Introduction

In the initial phase of the project, the existing website lerbermatt.ch underwent a comprehensive analysis. Based on quantitative and qualitative data, a detailed assessment of the content was conducted. The resulting information architecture allowed for precise content prioritization and established the foundation for evidence-based decision-making. Through this data-driven approach, the navigation, page structure, and user flows were specifically optimized and aligned with the actual needs of the user groups.

UI Design: From a Progressive Approach to a Functional, Institutional Identity

The visual design was developed with great care, combining youthful freshness with clear functionality. As a "green" and sustainable high school, ecological values needed to be tangible in the design. The design process evolved from a progressive draft toward a functional, institutionally-oriented implementation that also visually distinguishes between the specialized upper secondary school (FMS) and the gymnasium. Close collaboration with Art Director Sandro Galli also enabled the consistent adaptation of all other communication materials to the new design system.

Technical Implementation with Craft CMS and Svelte – Dynamic Interaction and Editorial Efficiency

The website was built using Craft CMS and Svelte, featuring page transitions and subtle micro-interactions that make the school feel vibrant and modern. Particularly challenging was the implementation of various component views (with/without sidebars, varying layout systems) as well as the development of a user-friendly schedule function that can be easily and regularly maintained by the editorial team. A later expansion allows the teaching staff to share and rate posts regarding the use of AI tools. The project is hosted on a Swiss server and has been very well received by the school's editorial team.
